​Your barrier is not alive and is made up of dead cells, lipids, proteins and fats that help protect your skin from the environment and external aggressor, while also helping retain the good things inside.​

​An impaired skin barrier requires effective treatments to help restore it to its proper function and reduce pain, inflammation, itching, irritation, infection and skin rashes that can significantly impair a person’s overall wellbeing.​

  1. Protects against external factors: Our environment consists of various elements such as climate, pollution, UV rays, humidity level and many other factors. Our skin’s barrier makes it more resilient to these stressors by preventing development of bacteria, infection or sun damage. ​
  2. Prevents moisture loss: Dry skin is more prone to damage as the skin cells become tighter and more fragile making it easier to crack.
