The more time spent indoors, with our eyes glued to our screens, the more we tend to notice signs of fatigue like tired eyes, fine lines, dark circles and puffiness.
This is where eye care comes into play - because looking after your under-eyes is just as important as looking after the skin on the rest of your face.
Here we round up our expert tips for looking after the skin under your eyes and share our tried and tested favourites to reveal your most radiant eyes yet.
Why you need to look after the skin around your eyes.
The skin around the eyes is thinner and more delicate than the skin around the rest of the face, making it more prone to signs of ageing - fine lines, wrinkles and dullness. Not only that. unlike your forehead, chin, nose and cheeks, there are practically no oil glands in the eye area, resulting in dryness.
This is why it’s important to use dedicated skincare products for the eye area to target your unique concerns and ensure healthy, hydrated skin - all over.
How to pick an eye cream.
Identify your specific eye area concerns - whether it be fine lines, dark circles or dryness; and choose a formula designed to address your needs.
If your concern is fine lines and wrinkles, opt for a formula containing Vitamin A - like Ultra A Perfecting Eye Cream. This potent formula contains Retinol combined with Sodium Hyaluronate to hydrate and plump the skin around the eye area and visibly diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
If you’re looking to firm and plump, you’ll love Ultra C Firming Eye Cream. This antioxidant-rich formula contains pure Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) to visibly improve elasticity and firmness.
If you simply want to hydrate and nourish the skin, opt for Ultra Moisturiser Eye Cream. This formula contains a potent blend of powerful moisturising ingredients leaving the eye area soft, smooth and hydrated for up to 24 hours. Bonus, you can layer it on top of your corrective eye cream for next-level results.
How to best apply your eye cream.
Like you would with your face serums and moisturisers, ensure the eye area is cleansed and free from any makeup and oil before applying your eye cream. Why? This is to ensure optimal absorption of those powerful ingredients in your Ultra eye cream.
Once cleansed, take a pea-sized amount of product to your under-eye area using your ring finger. Remember, the skin around your eyes is sensitive, so it’s important to be gentle. Avoid pulling or dragging and instead gently tap and massage the product into your under-eye area. Don’t forget the orbital bone too.
If you are using Ultra A Perfecting Eye Cream, apply it in the evening as part of your evening ritual. If you are using Ultra C Firming Eye Cream, apply it in the morning; and if you are using Ultra Moisturiser Eye Cream, you may apply it in the morning and evening - or layered on top of your corrective eye cream for soft, smooth and silky results.
Using an eye mask.
When you feel like giving your under-eyes a little extra TLC, opt for an eye mask. Our go-to is our new Ultra B² Hydrating Eye Mask.
Each hydrogel eye mask is soaked in Peptide (Acetyl Hexapeptide-8) combined with Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide and Panthenol to plump, hydrate and smooth the delicate eye area.
Apply them as often as you wish for when you need to wake up your dull, tired under-eyes.
